The Orc King - Just imo - Review containing spoile

Well, there was a lot of excitement going on with the publishing of The Orc King, and when I read a few mixed reviews, I decided to check it out of the library. Frankly, I was glad I didn't spend the bucks.
I will say that I was glad I read it. I will also say there were parts that I did not like at all, but some I liked a lot.
I did not like the way Innovindil died. It was terrible. I also thought it was a waste of pages to explain Wulfgar taking Delly Curtie's body for proper burial. He did not love her, but at least he was decent to her, so big deal. I'm probably one of the rare ones who has a lot of sympathy for Wulfgar, and was really happy to see him planning on returning to The Ice Wind Dale. I have a feeling we'll see more of him in the next book.
One think that really irritated me was having to read several chapters to finally get to Drizzt.
The pleasant surprise was Catti-brie training to be a wizard. The woman always bored me, but in The Orc King, I actually liked her. I don't think she and Drizzt were that affectionate towards each other, and I wonder about the relationship's future. There is also the spellplague, which could claim a lot more lives.
Bruenor? Lol. The same ole crochety and hearty dwarf king.
As I approached the final pages, I kept thinking that much of what was in the book could have been resolved in The Two Swords.
All in all, on a scale of one to ten, I would give the book a seven.
Will I read the next book? Of course! I'm forever a fan of the drow ranger.
